Just bought our first static caravan - a 2019 ABI in Cornwall - and I want to make sure I stay on top of damp issues. What should I be looking for during my regular checks? I've got a basic damp meter but not really sure what readings are normal vs concerning. Any advice from experienced owners would be hugely appreciated!

Great question and congrats on the purchase! Here's my quick guide after 10 years of ownership: Readings on a Protimeter: - 0-15%: Perfectly fine, nothing to worry about - 15-20%: Keep an eye on it, check again in a month - 20-25%: Something is going on - investigate further - 25%+: You've got a problem that needs fixing Check these spots EVERY time: - Window seals and corners - Around the bathroom and shower - Ceiling around roof vents - Floor edges near external walls - Inside wardrobes and cupboards on external walls I check mine monthly during winter and every other month in summer. Takes 15 minutes. Saved me thousands by catching a leaking roof vent seal early last year.

ScottishSun nailed it with those readings. One thing I'd add - pay special attention after heavy storms, especially on a coastal site like Cornwall. Driving rain can force water through seals that are normally fine. I always do an extra check after a big storm hits. Also, if you ever smell that musty 'caravan smell', don't ignore it - that's often the first sign of hidden damp before your meter picks anything up.
